It turned out to be a really great night! The skies did start to cloud up again around 2:30, so I called it quits around then. The views of the summer highlights such as: Veil, Crescent, Trifid, Lagoon, and the Eagle were great, but the view of the Swan really blew my socks off. The Swan has long been a favorite summer target of mine, but I cannot recall a time that it was looking as good as last night. I added many, decidedly more difficult objects, to my "hit" category and now only have a few Herschel 400's remaining. I also ticked of a good number of objects from the "Best 550 Deep Sky Objects" list, and some of them were really quite difficult. But the skies were up to it with very good transparency and good seeing. Sorry that Jay and I did not see more of you out there. Maybe next time?
