When I went to the Texas Star Party in 1994 I saw a 10" Newtonian tube made out of broken hockey sticks! The maker had 2 sons that played hockey and had accumulated a lot of broken sticks. He had wrapped them around a tube. After glueing them together he pulled the tube out. I've always enjoyed seeing creative ATM efforts.
A free eyepiece to the first person from Utah to show me a functioning telescope tube made from a big, dried zucchini.
