Another nice bit of art from Kelly. I say another since she recently donated a brass engraving of her version of Starry Night to SPOC. During the observing season it will hang in SPOC's Refractor House (see the cover of the current issue of Nova). BTW, we should all feel a little sorry for Kelly. She recently started as a mail carrier for the post office. Nothing wrong with that except she started a few weeks before the recent election and in *Ohio*! Hopefully now that the election is over her mail bags are much lighter. :) patrick On 08 Nov 2012, at 08:49, Kelly Ricks wrote:
Hello friends,
So, I've been experimenting lately with an idea I've had rumbling around in my head for some time: abstract astronomy-themed art. I'd read some stuff online about how astronomy art (though obviously not photography) is a waning field, and wondered if I could explore similar themes using my own quirky style. I've run across a handful of other artists who do conceptual, surreal, and abstract work, and the more I work at these ideas myself, the more interested I've become. I've completed two pieces so far and already have ideas for a few more. I have the images posted on my blog. The links below lead to my posts showing (and discussing), first, "Stellar Nursery," and second, "Beehive Cluster." I'm a little nervous about sharing these with you all, but would welcome any feedback you wish to provide.
