Aloha Patrick I use a PETZL TIKKA 3 led light w/ the red filter. It uses AA batteries ( a pair) and not the expensive 6V single use batteries used in other models. I bought mine thru Mountain Gear.com ($32.95 + $3.50 filter kit) and use it on ever night adventure to Haleakala or the Kaupo side of Maui and a back up safety light when I cave. I've had my Tikka's for over a year now and I am still using the supplied batteries, a very light weight and convenient light source. Aloha Rob
