Does it have to be related to astronomy, or can it reflect any branch of science? Off the top of my head:
* Contact * Jurrasic Park * Solaris (highly recommended, if you like art films) * Serenity * Day the Earth Stood Still * Any of the Indiana Jones trilogy (archeology?) * War of the Worlds (original, not the new one)
Now why am I not surprised that you would be the first to reply to a message about science movies? :) The movies can be related to any of the sciences but since I'm known as a space geek they have me do movies related to astronomy and space exploration. I already did Contact (another great flick) and have not heard of Solaris. The original War of the Worlds is a classic but (putting on serious cap here) there's too much war in the world right now. Egads, could you imagine how little of Lebanon would be left about now if the IDF had a few of those ray guns? :( (cap off) But Day the Earth Stood Still is one of my favorites too. Thanks for the suggestions. Patrick
