If I had hair I'd be pulling it out. earlier tonight I noticed "something" next to NGC 4108 in an image I'd just made. So I checked the list of latest supernovae (http://www.rochesterastronomy.org/supernova.html) and saw what I was seeing was a supernova that had been found on 2015/06/15.340. Just out of curiosity I went back to my previous images of 4108. No sign of it on my image taken on the 13th. But much to my consternation it is plainly visible on the image I took the next night, more than a day before the official discovery. It is so obvious in the image that I've no idea how I missed it. So frustrating! Grumble... patrick
