Hi Debbie, That sounds promising. I looked up Kolob Canyon on Google Earth and it looked pretty extensive. Is your observing site still within an hour or so of St George? Perhaps it would be better for me to split the difference and stay somewhere in Hurricane. I'm going to be busy in St. George from mid-morning to late night on Saturday and then head home on Sunday. I want to hit Kolob Canyons at least one more time before it gets too cold depending on the weather. It is above 6000 feet and very pleasant up there. I saw Stephan's Quintet very clearly a couple of years ago so I'm hoping for some good transparency up there. Debbie On Mon, Oct 3, 2011 at 12:43 PM, Jay Eads <jayleads@gmail.com> wrote:
Matthew,
I'm sure that a few of the vets around here and those who live in St. George will come along and provide some insights where to observe down by St. George.

Hello All,
I'm hoping to be in St George at the end of the month and would like to get out for some observing on Friday, 10/28. Based on a quick search of the message board it looks like the best options within an hour's drive are Fort Pearce and a turnout near Virgin. If anyone has other suggestions and/or would like to join me for a relatively short night (I have family activities I must be awake for on Saturday!) let me know.
Thanks,
Craig

BTW, I'm a visual observer using either a small refractor or an 8" Dob, depending on how much room I have in the car.
