Folks should also note that the suggested filters will allow "possible" enhancement- each individual observer may have biological vision limitations that may affect the level of enhancement (such as a variation of color-blindness, or a low-level color insensitivity). If someone has tried filters and states flatly, "they don't work", it could very well be just an individual, physical limitation. I would also suggest that "large aperture", as far as low-transmission filters are concerned, should but upwards of 12-14 inches, from my experience.
