Just in case anyone is wondering, the move to change the meeting night has to do with deadlines, primarily for the newsletter but also for the Sec/Treas. When we were forced to make the switch from the traditional 3rd Thursday (how many decades did we meet on that night?) to the current 4th Tuesday it made it difficult to impossible to get the Nova out by the deadline. Certain bookkeeping chores became a chore as well. Moving the meetings back to the traditional 3rd Thursday or the 3rd Tuesday would alleviate those problems by giving the editor and Sec/Treas at least a week to complete their duties before the end of the month. And, as long a Chuck is campaigning for the 3rd Thursday, the traditionalist in me likes the thought of going back to the 3rd Thursday. And knowing that that would make it possible for Chuck to attend (and sometimes speak at) meetings is all the better. pw Chuck Hards wrote:
I would like to lobby all voting SLAS members in favor of changing the monthly meeting day from Tuesday to Thursday. This is on the current SLAS ballot just sent out, if you don't have yours already you should in a day or two.
Thursday nights are the only weeknights that I have a prayer of attending any kind of meeting, due to my work schedule. I appeal to everyone with a vote to help me out if it fits with your own schedules.
The change would not take place until calendar year 2007, if approved.
Thanks for considering this item, and thanks for your time.
