What he left out is this came about from a previous launch. One of the kids caught a horned toad and wanted to put it in a rocket. I was running launch control, and overhead the conversation. Kid: "can we launch this?" (They'd been putting bugs in their rockets all day) Range Safety officer: "No, you can't launch anything with a spine." (The guy was kinda snotty about it, wasn't handling the group of 10 year olds very well at all) Me: "hand it to me, I'll rip it out."(said *very* tongue in cheek, the kids knew I was joking, the RSO didn't catch the joke) RSO: "Dan, if you launch anything like that I'll make sure you are thrown out of the club and report you to NAR". My first thought was "challenge accepted". So I made sure this guy was the RSO when I launched the rocket. So it was his responsibility to check the rocket over and make sure it was OK. I was standing next to him when I said to my friend "Gee, I hope the mouse survives. I'd forgotten a J350 has such a high initial thrust.". That was all he heard and started his conniption, he didn't hear my friend ask "serial or PS/2?" Dan -- Sent from my iPhone. Please pardon any mispelings or errors.

Yeah, Dave, but, when ya gotta go.... Anyway rules say we cannot loft a living animal, period. So, my son, Dan, in true family tradition, announced over the PA system a rocket he just launched (this while the rocket was still going up) contained a mouse in the payload bay. You can imagine the clamor. There was even talk of asking him to leave the range, his being just about the largest sin one of us could perpetuate. As he was walking back in with his rocket, a crowd had gathered. Before a word could be spoken, he grinned, held the mouse up for all to see, saying it survived! Still muttering, the crowd closed in for the kill. With the one of a kind Daniel smirk, holding out his hand, on display was a computer mouse. Only Dan.

Oh, man…you walked in to this one. If you hadn’t decided to use the outhouse at the last minute it wouldn’t have nosed over.
Speaking of smelly, our hot-water heater decided to go out, yesterday. Haven’t eaten Christmas dinner off paper plates since my college days. Ah, the memories.
Hope everyone had a merry Christmas and the New Year brings many days of clear skies.

Basically, looks like a single spoke wheel with the spoke in the shape of a propeller and off set rockets to spin it for stability. Pretty neat flight, but I have to agree w/Patrick. We would not allow that type of ignition on our range. I have seen spools, pyramids, bowling balls, and yes, even an outhouse launched (that didn't do well as not all engines ignited and it got about, maybe 30 ft up, and then just nosed over, and---wham!). Our insurance keeps us pretty much on the straight and narrow! Thanks for the post. 73
