You think we got melting problems, how about cassini finding potential liquid water on Saturns moon Enceladus. How hot would it have to get for that frozen piece of realestate to thaw?
That's a great story. Apparently there is vulcanism on that moon, but I don't know how much of that is a result of gravitational flexing (like IO around Jupiter) or radioactive decay of elements in the core. Enceladus would appear to be too small to have retained much heat from its formation. FWIW, a guy in my old astronomy club never could remember the name Enceladus, so he always called it Enchilada.
