Whew! I expressed vague interest in this concept back at the beginning of this thread (although it's now clear that the thread REALLY goes back for years). It's been 'interesting' to see the history and the complications of this seemingly simple concept. I've seen too little of Utah to have my own opinions of the 'ideal' site for me. A couple more years of scouting around (and paying off daughter's college) should help clarify that in my mind. For the time being, the occasional camping trip out to the desert will do just fine.
I, too beg forgiveness for continuing this thread, but it seems that there are still some misconceptions about the old Dark Sky Site Fund and how SPOC II evolved. Nate's email refers to a series of events that began when I served on the Board as President. My memory is faulty at times about a lot of things, but my recollection is clear about the issues to which Nate referred. I'm sorry Nate, but you are mistaken about much. If you still have a problem with this dead horse, then let's discuss it in an appropriate forum. I would love an opportunity to correct you and others who have made erroneous claims about how the "Dark Sky Site Fund" was used or dissolved. No offense taken or intended, but if anyone is still bothered about all this, let's talk it over.
