Just don't expect a spaceship like Buster Crabbe's, sparklers fizzing, smoke coming out of the nozzle, and a loud buzz in space! --- On Thu, 6/10/10, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote: From: Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Mooning over the moon To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Date: Thursday, June 10, 2010, 11:24 PM In my mind, I still prefer the old images. Neat Mars image! I've always loved the old sc-fi views too. They made space travel seem fantastic and adventurous and possible, all at the same time. -- Joe

Bonestell was a big reason I got interested in astronomy. He knew how to light a fire, visually.
I've always found this 2007 image of Mars with part of ESA's Rosetta spacecraft in the foreground to be reminiscent of Bonestell's work: http://sci.esa.int/science-e/www/object/index.cfm?fobjectid=40718
