Take away that guy's Boomer card!
No, I'm with Kim on this. I've got my official Boomer card and I think the original Star Trek is seen best as unintentional comedy. I don't think it was ever intended to carry the weight of seriousness that our generation seems to have put on it. The best of NextGen was considerably better in every way--story, writing, acting. Of course the worst of NextGen matches nicely with the original series. And "Voyager" was one of the worst things anybody ever wasted electricity on.
Of course, I'm also the guy that thinks "2001" is a horrendously pretentious piece of claptrap....
Not to put words in his mouth, but surely Patrick, as a fellow Boomer, would far prefer the least perfect (I can't bring myself to say worst) episode of the original Star Trek to the best of NG!!! -- Joe
I also think it was by far the best episode of any of
the Star Trek series.

And of course, there's the classic Twilight Zone episode, "To Serve Man"
