Rich, like you I genuinely tried. My mom has entire walls covered with VHS tapes, DVD's, and, yes, even Betamax tapes of the Good Doctor's (all of them) adventures. But even mind-altering substances couldn't make it stick! I have two theories on why Doctor Who appeals to some people. First, it could be that British campy genre, like Benny Hill, Red Dwarf, Hitchhiker's Guide, etc. For the average human, it's good in small doses, but I'm convinced that your brain has to be wired in a certain way to appreciate a steady diet of it.
