An explanation of the U of U parking system may be needed here. It is my understanding and according to the FAQ Page http://commuterservices.utah.edu/permit-types/virtual-permits/newpermitsyste mfaquntitled.php that they no longer issue a physical Paper Permit. With the new system you need to register your vehicle and the license plate becomes your permit, you can have 2 plates registered at a time and change plates in the system as often as you like. You pay for the permit in advance and just park. They drive through the lots and use a camera and computer that reads the plate and compares it to the database and clears it or flags it accordingly for citations. Go to Commuter Services https://utah.t2hosted.com/cmn/index.aspx click purchase permit then Visitor Login You need to create a visitor account with your email address and a password Then you will be able to select the "$2.00 / day - Evening A Permit - Valid in all A, U, E lots after 4 pm" Select the beginning and ending dates you want it to be active Then enter your Vehicle information. And proceed to check out. After initial setup you can return to manage or purchase permits and Vehicle info And when purchasing a permit just select the vehicle you want to use I believe you can purchase several in advance for specific days but I have not confirmed this. I hope this helps clarify the Parking permits Jamie B -----Original Message----- From: Utah-Astronomy [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Rodger C. It is very easy to purchase these online and you can use a different car each month if you want. I will send info in the next few days so members can be prepared for the next weeks meeting. If they would, the cost should be minimal. With free parking now not starting until 8:00 pm, those wishing to to attend SLAS meetings which start at 7:00 may have to pay for parking. One possible option would be to move the meetings to a new venue. I really don't like that idea but if that does come to pass, where to move to? Ideally any such meeting hall would be free, located in the Salt Lake Valley, able to handle up to 75 people, have a good sound and video projection system, be available once a month from 7:00 to 9:30 pm and have free nearby parking. Any ideas? patrick _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Send messages to the list to Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com The Utah-Astronomy mailing list is not affiliated with any astronomy club.
