I do have a Facebook account, I can barely remember my login info. I have high school friends and college friends listed as friends. I feel no closer to them, it is still not really human contact and not at all the same as seeing them in person. I have also heard of people being followed on this "social media" to time robberies.
I think the thing that is most telling is that there are companies paid to create false accounts on twitter and facebooks. All to make a politician, product, or organization to seem more popular. I've heard claims of some "friends" on these site can be over 80% being from factitious. I also, could really care less what a news viewer tweets, surely there is "real" news they could cover. Then again maybe not. I do think many youngsters (likely other also) would be better off figuring out what they are going to do with the rest of their lives. A Facebook account and welfare will keep you off the street. Josephine, Chuck is a bachelor, he got his life back. On 8/8/11, Josephine Grahn <bsi@xmission.com> wrote:

So, you're implying that those who spend a lot of time on these various sites don't have a life?
I'm not sure how to take that.
