Not a bad idea, Howard. We'd want fairly dark skies, I'm thinking Lakeside. It's pretty dark and only an hour from home for me. I won't be taking any super-long exposures with the DSLR so skies dark enough for wide-angle shots of 5 minutes or less would be sufficient for a meteor shower. There are also two total lunar eclipses this year visible from North America. I haven't had a chance to check the SLAS star-party schedule, I wonder if anything has been scheduled around those?
