I'm just going to have to be patient and wait till the seeing is great. The seeing has been horrible lately. I would like to try some tight doubles in Orion but haven't had good weather. Decades ago, I split it with an 8" f/7 Newtonian. Plenty of aperture, and the diffraction spikes from a spider can work to your advantage if you can rotate the OTA to put the companion between the spikes.
