Being military the thing is built like a tank, is VERY heavy and equally sturdy. The 30cm top rotates via internal gearing. The bottom of each leg rest on a heavy metal disk about 20cm in diameter. The center shaft, which appears to be solid, is about 90mm in diameter. When set up ("deployed" might be a better term for this beast) it stands about waist high. I've never been able to find a use for it so I've decided to just give it away.
