Perhaps if SLAS pays, more will want to take a bus, the numbers did not justify a charter to begin with. It is still a little early for final plans for me, the dry winter may have accelerated the road repair to Cedar City. To me Bryce is still a possibility and staying overnight in Cedar City seems likely.
I would hope that SLAS is not going to furnish a big bus for just a handful, the charter should match the numbers. Perhaps, it would be cheaper for SLAS to rent a van if only six or eight people want to travel like that. Or, like Jay suggest, consider getting a group and rent van for yourselves. It should include handicap access. Erik That's right, Chuck. Those who want a two-fer with the new moon down south
wouldn't want to be on the bus. But I think Cory and other spouses who don't normally go on astronomical outings, might enjoy a group jaunt like this. Thanks, Joe

OK, I get you. This is a quick, one day outing, there and back. I was just thinking that since it will be New Moon, some people were planning on piggybacking some night-time observing from southern Utah, in the same trip, and kill two birds with one stone.

I don't think a lot of people will be photographing the eclipse; at least, when we went to the annular in New Mexico, it was largely a viewing experience. I had my 8-inch along and don't think I bothered to track. For something as short as a series of eclipse photos I don't think I would even need auxiliary power for my laptop, but would for my SBIG camera -- just one battery. Anyway, nobody has to go who doesn't want to. I just thought it would be a pleasant club outing. Thanks, Joe
