Joe, I recommend the following site: http://www.photoshopsupport.com/photoshop-blog/04/07/10-fits.html It has information on a program called the FITS Liberator.... which allows users of Photoshop and PS Elements to load FITS files directly into Photoshop. I use the procedure they outline to combine RGB FITS files. Then I add the luminance data by pasting it in as a new layer (on top) and changing its layer type to "Luminance". This allows all the detail of the luminance file to be seen, but allows the mixed colors underneath (color only) to show through. It works great and allows for easy layering. Read the instructions carefully... I was able to figure most of it out just by reading. If you have questions after that, I would be happy to help further. BTW - I don't think you will be able to use a copy of Photoshop CS. It requires an activation code directly from Adobe. However, Elements will work too.
