Happily the skies cleared around midnight so I was able to get a shot of the new supernova. http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=68&g2_page=7 Checking further I see that it was discovered the night of 1 June when it was cloudy here. Last time it was clear was the morning of the 1st. Cloudy the 2nd.
And last night when the thing apparently blew I was lecturing at Bryce Canyon.
I sure hope it was cloudy here in the north so I would not have been able to image even if I had been home. :)
