A map to Wolf Creek is currently on my homepage at: http://homepage.mac.com/dlbennett/ As Kim stated the actual Wolf Creek Campground would not be good for observation being in the midst of the forest as well as its higher SE, S, SW horizons. Kim and I did stop by briefly to check out the accessibility to the site on our way back from RTMC last May. I think we stayed out in the cold for about 10 minutes before getting back into the warm car. Don Colton had been up there two weeks prior to us and became stuck in a snow drift. June's new moon tends to be the first reasonable time for Wolf Creek...unless you're crazy like a few of us are (you know who you are). I think our record stands at October 24th for the latest night up there...haven't started keeping track of the earliest yet. It was so cold we kept our water in the cooler to keep it from freezing. The cooler was also a nice place to warm your hands! Don't let the cold stories scare you off though...throughout the summer and early fall it's a fabulous site. 9890ft! There is a nice Forest Service campground right by the hightway, about 2 miles below the top of the ridge where we usually set up. I believe there is a group site, and of course there are primitive toilets, but the campground is in a poor location for observing (high horizons). Dave Bennett has posted a map - I believe it is on the SLAS website.
