Hi Ed, I didn't know anything was displayed at the Grand America. To answer your questions, sometimes thetmy were made fir special occasions -- George Fishley's was made when he word his Continental hat in a Fourth of July celebration, etc. -- but mostly they were just like anyone else who was photographed. Card photos are like modern b & w prints mounted on cardboard the size of a visiting card. -- best wishes, Joe ------------------------------ On Fri, Jul 5, 2013 6:10 AM MDT Ed wrote:
Hi Joe,
I have not seen the magazine yet, but that is a very nice collection of historical photographs in the Light Box. Congratulations on having your material published in Time Magazine.
Could you tell us what was the occasion or reason these photographs were originally made and what is a "card photo"?
Would you care to comment on the historical memorabilia being displayed at the Grand America Hotel this week?

Eight fully ID'd veterans in daguerreotypes, five in card photos. Believe it or not, those eight are the most in any one collection. Best wishes, Joe
