Carol & I got a chance to attend last night. The skies were getting better as we left somewhere on the downside of 9p. I have to agree with Dion, the views of the moon were just amazing. It astounded me, that while 4 or 5 steps up on the ladder, I was able to move the scope to keep the ring in sight. Using averted imagination, the central star was visible, though others claimed to see it. The ring was so large, it reminded me of my telescope when I defocus during alignment. Thanks for the opportunity. Also, those of you who missed L & O. , missed a chance to listen to Mike expound on the problems of design, etc. 73 -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] 70-inch viewing sessions this weekend Date: Sat, 9 Nov 2013 21:45:21 -0800 (PST) From: Dion Davidson <diondavidson@yahoo.com> Reply-To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Chuck Just wanted to say thanks for arranging that visit to the 70" telescope. Truly breathtaking in person. Between groups I got to spend about 30 minutes with Mike hearing about the telescope, its past and future. The individual craters on the moon were amazing, and the ring nebula was huge! I'm glad I stuck around until the sky cleared a bit. Here are a few photos I took tonight: http://goo.gl/6etXDD Dion
