John definitely doesn't have to be in the Salt Lake area to join. We have members in various states. He was a good teacher and helped light a fire in me. I was probably only 13 or 14 at the time. John was also a regular Sky & Telescope columnist for many years. SLAS should extend an invitation to John, should he find himself in the Salt Lake area. I haven't had any correspondence with him for about ten years, at least. Would be good to see him again.
