Incredible turnout at spoc tonight. Well over 200 public (most now in line for the Clark). Many, many scopes and perfect weather.
To the SLASers at SPOC this evening: Do you think the event was *too* well attended? I mentioned 200 public in my earlier email but that was at the beginning, shortly after sunset. Considering how packed the parking lot was, how many people were in some of the lines (over 150 in one line) and reports from others who counted later, it's starting to look like the total could have been 400+. It's obvious that SLAS's new marketing guru Ryan Simpkins has done a great job of getting the word out (thank you Ryan). And I look forward to seeing how many show up at the next General Membership meeting. From what I heard at Advanced Training the were no complaints from the public about the Disneyland-like long lines but I did feel bad for those who stood in lines for so long. Assuming tonight was not a fluke, should we maybe think about working harder to get more members out there with scopes (not quite 20 tonight)? Or come up with other ideas for handling such crowds? Any general comments about tonight? patrick
