Hi Ann. Kevin doesn't get to read the list often, so I'll answer for him. He told me that he has collaborated with Chad Moore on the article (one reason why Bryce is prominently mentioned). We are indeed preparing for the eclipse and anticipate a crowd of people more like a busy summer day, when 7,000 people can be in the Park. We'll have lots of "flat hats" out there to help with the event - promoting safe observing, handing out eclipse filters, telling stories, etc. You know, the stuff the NPS is made of. We'll probably have at least two main sites where we will try to project the solar image on a large screen, side of a trailer or something similar. Probably not too many small scopes because they just aren't the best public observing tool for such an event, but there will be several ways to view the eclipse from inside the Park. Here's more info: http://www.nps.gov/brca/planyourvisit/astrofest.htm. See you all in May (if not before)! -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Ann House Sent: Tuesday, February 07, 2012 3:00 PM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Eclipse Festival You Bryce people (Kim and Kevin) may know this but S&T is in the process of producing an article (probably the cover story) for the May 2012 issue about astronomy in US National Parks. The article mentions this Bryce Canyon event, and will have a photo of Bryce Canyon. Since the magazine is available well before May on newsstands and by mail, there may be some serious interest in Bryce. Just saying....be prepared! -A
