Not to start a new controversy but the Big Bang Theory is in trouble. See the Scientific American Article, "Is the Universe out of Tune", August 2005. Recent studies of the microwave background radiation call into serious question whether inflation theory as currently proposed is correct. If inflation doesn't work then back to drawing boards since it is critical to the big bang theory. The Big Bang Theory has continued to suffer from adhoc modifications. That doesn't mean it isn't true but we need to look at all of the evidence including objectively examining the concerns of Arp, Narlikar, Burbidge and the late Fred Hoyle. The book "A Different Approach to Cosmology" (Cambridge University Press, 2000) raises several serious issues with the Big Bang Theory.
