Hi all. I just posted a couple of new images to my Utah Astronomy gallery. The first is a new version of the Orion and Running Man Nebulas. This image is lots deeper than the earlier version, and includes a hi-res pic, if you click the thumbnail at this link: http://www.utahastronomy.com/album16/Utah_Astronomy_Orion_Heb_OR The second is an image of the nearly full moon (99.77%). This image was chosen as ATWB photo of the day a while back. It was taken with a Nikon Coolpix 4300 through the eyepiece (35mm Pan) of my Celestron Ultima 2000 8" SCT. ToU webcam or NexImage?

Anybody know the difference between the ToU webcam and the Celestron NexImage Solar System imager? The Celestron unit is a bit cheaper. I want to use one to find guidestars and take planetary images. Also, can I use one on my 15" scope? I don't have a platform so I'd have to constantly nudge the scope to keep the planet centered. Debbie Somebody do a dance to stop the rain. Joe, I'd like to know how the Meade DSI works as a guider. Guidedog software is coming out with software for long exposure webcams/CCD cameras. It would be much cheaper than buying an autoguider. Also, does the Meade DSI plug into the autoguider port or do you plug it in to your laptop? Charlie Green is right!! Daylight Savings time starts on the FIRST Sunday in April not the last. Legislation changed it from the last to the first Sunday in 1987. Google tells all and I must be stuck in a time warp. Beryllium is lighter than aluminum as well as lighter than glass and has a 1/3 higher modulus of elasticity than steel. The Spitzer telescope is in an earth FOLLOWING orbit that is taking it slowly away from the earth in nearly the same orbit around the sun. Jupiter tonight

Anyone else observing Jupiter tonight? Just back from a session on the Big Scope with some other B S trainers in training where we all agreed Jupiter was incredible. It's fun to see so much color in the bands but the most impressive thing was the GRS. Easier to see than I've ever seen it before. Patrick

Patrick, For those of us not yet in the BS Group, do you have any pics of Jupiter to share here? I bet the view of Jupiter is incredible in the new scope!!! Thanks Guy (and Roger). I'm sorry to have soured the mood here. Look, I don't harbor any hard feelings towards Ziegfried; I really like him in fact. And I'm truly sorry for his loss (I had no idea). I just prefer to have folks straight up about what's up. And I've already volunteered to Ziggy about finding a speaker for an upcoming meeting. I'll apologize ahead of time to the rest of the list members here for spouting off, but your actions are hardly those worthy of a club president Siegfried. If you or a delegate haven't arranged for a speaker, just say so. My time is too valuable (and I suspect that's true for most club members) to be playing semantics games.
