Hi Folks,
Please let me know if you'd like to bring a telescope to this school
star party. First, thanks to all who have helped with this in the past.
This is one of the most regular and well-attended public star parties in
the area. If you are available (or might be available), please reply to
me directly:

The moon will be at last quarter, so we'll be focused on more distant
objects--too bad to miss a waxing crescent but this is the best
date.Saturn should be well placed and Jupiter might peak over the
mountains by 9:30 or 9:45. If you haven't been to this event before,
just so you're aware, the light pollution is substantial. From my home,
just a few blocks away, the limiting visual magnitude is maybe 3.5 or
slightly higher, but not much. So, it's not great for deep-sky, but
brighter deep-sky objects are fun for the kids anyway.
If you are a member of the Salt Lake or Utah Valley clubs, please pass
the word to their official channels.
Hope to see you there!
John Craig
