stuff in Mars soil

I have been fascinated by the strange material that Curiosity found in the soil of Mars but haven't heard anything more about it for several days. However, while browsing through images from the craft's Mars Hand Lens Imager I came upon several really interesting objects in a close-up taken on Oct. 13. I enlarged and cropped the center of one of the views, and put it on my SLAS gallery here: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=5428 -- in my opinion the blue-gray objects look like organisms. Binocular Repair

University Optics has a book, Choosing, Using & Repairing Binoclars by J W Seyfried http://www.universityoptics.com/books.html I've also got a pair of Meade binos that are badly out of collimation. 3 years ago they were great and I don't remember dropping or bumping them. Does anyone want to make a pair of finder scopes out of them and sell one back to me cheap? I think they are 8 X 50's but can't find them right now so I'm not sure of the 1st #. Deloy

Celestial globe

Speaking of Christmas lists ... I have been wanting a globe that has representations of the night sky - constellations in particular. I wondered if the group had any recommendations or brand names I can research. The ones I've seen with my own eyes look like toys (sorry Seth), and I was hoping for something a little higher quality that I can use as a reference for learning and teaching the night sky. I don't need the fancy gizmos that show the earth and moon inside the globe with rotational mechanics, etc. Thanks, Dion

I imagine a phone call to Jodi would get you James Nell's phone number, and he could give you assistance in talking to your local lighting people.
