Wow is all I can say. That thing must have been really moving to trail so obviously in a 60 second exposure - and it was plenty bright too. Perhaps as bright as the object you were really after :) P.S. I saw Puss N Boots. I guess cat lovers would appreciate it more. When Puss was walking up the aisle and then saw the laser dot on the ground and chased it, I was hysterical. It's true, cats do just that. I've trailed the laser dot up the wall and across the ceiling and the cat follows it till it comes down the other wall and goes after it again. lol.

Thanks for posting Joe. The image of Tyler's is disgusting in an awe inspiring, no way could I do that in a million years sort of way. That is a perspective that you never get through a telescope. If Tyler were ever to give a presentation to SLAS, I would make a point to attend. Would love to see how he did it.

New glasses

After about 5 years, I bought a new pair of glasses. My prescription hadn't changed, but the lenses weren't in optimal condition even though I take very good care of them. The old ones were "OK", IMO, no large scratches but quite a few small "micro" pits. In sunlight the glare was noticeable. They were good for working in the shop and indoors and over time I guess I just got used to them. I tried the new ones outdoors last night and it's a whole new world. Without the light-scattering micro-pits and fine scratches, clarity (resolution) is much improved. I got the anti-reflection coating on these so throughput is much better as well. Contrast is also much better due to the lowered scattering level. My naked-eye astronomy is much improved thanks to clean, new lenses. If you wear glasses, I highly recommend a new pair, and pay the extra bucks for the anti-reflection coating.

Supernova SN2012A in Leo

Looks like a Type II in NGC 3239 an irregular galaxy in Leo with visual mag. of 11.9 (the galaxy is 11.9).
