Lots of sunspots!

I was just out looking at the sun with the last unclaimed SunSpotter, and there is a large, extended group of spots that is just PEPPERED with tiny ones, around two larger groups. Used a home made 23mm 5-element eyepiece, the view was terrific. Wish I had the time to pull out the PST! If anyone takes a look in H-a, give us your report. Thanks!

Well, I went ahead and registered on Jay's forum, just in case the last person leaving utah-astronomy forgets to turn out the lights. Seriously, we'lll see what happens. My free time is very episodic and unpredictable, but as I posted earlier, this old dog can still learn a few new tricks. Besides, I want to see how Jay moderates his first flame war. And he needs smilies. ;-)

Eclipse Car Pool

Lots of talk of buses and stuff to the Eclipse next May. I am just curious that if I was willing to drive, would anyone be interested in car pooling down? I can fit four comfortably but if enough people are interested in this, we could look at a rental of a mini-van and fit 6 in one. Anyone I am just curious if anyone is interesting in car pooling and sharing the cost of gas? -- Jay Eads

I am truly sorry I started this thread. I did not mean to attack the idea of having SLAS rent a bus or get into the debate. My only idea was to find if there were members of this email message board who were interested in car pooling regardless of whether they were SLAS members or not. Why? Because I thought it would give some flexibility. IF someone is interested in that please feel free to head over to AstronomyinUtah at http://astronomyinutah.forumer.com/index.php and pick up the subject there. If not, I'll just contact those that I observe with and make the offer personally.
