Observing Chair

I use an ice fishing bucket purchased for under $20 from Sportsman's Warehouse. After about 10 years, I had to beef-up the seat, but otherwise it has worked great with my 10" Dob. It also serves as my cargo carrier for my Telrad, a pair of binoculars, my Messier chart books, a stocking cap, an issue or two of S&T, a red-lens flashlight, etc. It's just part of my rig. Worm Moon

This just showed up from spaceweather.com. +++++ WORM MOON: Tonight's full Moon has a special name--the Worm Moon. It signals the coming of northern spring, a thawing of the soil, and the first stirrings of earthworms in long-dormant gardens. Step outside tonight and behold the wakening landscape. "Worm moonlight" is prettier than it sounds. +++++ So does this mean the worms will be making new lunar craters? :) patrick

Hi Don, Sorry, but I looked up Dr. Spencer and found out he also believes in intelligent design, which is just another moniker for creationism. I just cannot believe or trust any researcher that believes in psuedo-science. There's that term again... hehe. Again, this is just one former scientist from NASA that believes this. As opposed to the myriad of NASA, NOAA and IPCC scientists and researchers that do agree that global warming is man induced. Once more... it just does not stack up against the myriad of evidence that global warming is exacerbated by humans. Jon

Hi Josephine, Obviously, by the data you provided, it is slanted information. My next question is: Why would a supposed "scientist" do this type of work that could easily be researched and debunked? He obviously went out of his way to cherry pick his data to conform to his own ideology. I bet if looked into, one might find Mr. Monckton's research to be funded by the fossil fuel industry or some right wing think tank. Have you noticed that all the global warming debunkers have to use other peoples' data? They have no data of their own. They always cherry pick from NOAA, NASA or some other scientific organization. And every single time they are exposed by the media, other researchers or the scientists who accumulated the data. This happens time and time again. So why... why on Earth would anyone ever... ever rely on these pseudo researchers for this type of information. If you want to find the real data, go to the source ie; the government sources. The government sources contain the only real believable data. Well... aside from the studies released by the Bush admin. Jon

Hi Chuck, What you say, I can agree with. But, maybe I did not clarify myself completely with my last post. One can believe in God and still believe in evolution. I do not believe they are mutually exclusive. One can also believe in a higher deity that does not conform to the Judeo-Christian form of spirituality. My Pagan beliefs allow me to accept evolution as scientific fact. That is just how life as we know it came about. But intelligent design or creationism... at least the version that dictates that a believer has to take the Bible literally, that does not constitute science. It is religion. Jon
