Venus transit & the sunspot cycle

Did anyone else notice the lack of large sunspots during the transit? Apparently Venus does not share center stage! This thought just occured to me, so I haven't looked it up yet, but it seems that the next transit will be much closer to solar max; it may be much more likely that Venus will be accompanied by sunspots then. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Rainbow Bridge

I posted a picture of Rainbow Bridge in my folder. I've been thinking about how this formed and want to ask a question to the group. Could this happen on Mars? I don't know much about geology but wondered if erosion on Mars could do something similar. Debbie ps it was 105 degrees when I took this picture so I'm kind of proud that I hiked most of the way to get this picture.

Beautiful green bolide Friday night, 11:29 pm.

I witnessed a spectacular, bright (~mag -2?) green bolide Friday night at 11:29. It was traveling West out of Virgo, and really lit up the sky. I actually wasn't sure it was real, thinking in fact that it might be local fireworks (because of the distinct green color and how it faded) until my Sister in law that lives up in Heber confirmed yesterday that she saw it too. Anyone else on the list happen to be out at that time? Seems there has been a fair amount of meteor activity lately; my wife and I saw another fairly bright (~mag 0) meteor last night heading South-West out of Ursa Major about 10 pm or so.
