So, I would be better off with a blue clip ARC than a grey clip HiPer ARC? On 6/1/05, Russell Newberry <russell@maxistech.net> wrote:
Hi Nick,
Yes, the blue-clip ARCs are newer. Also, if you would like to upgrade to the 333 NMC, I have one available (NIC/NAC set) for sale at $750. I also have some Multispan T1 card sets available, looking for offers. Would you be interested in either? Please let me know either way, and we can get the details worked out.

So, I'm getting ready to deploy a new chassis and I'm trying to figure out which ARC card I should use, out of what I have available. I've got three cards with blue handle tabs labeled "ARC Access Router" and one with grey handle tabs labeled "HiPer Access Router Card".

Now, according to my understanding the HiPer ARC should be superior. However, my boss was telling me the other day that stuff with the blue handles was newer/better than stuff with the grey handles.
So, I'm a little confused as to which card would be better to use. I'm going to be coupling this with an older model NMC, I'm unsure of the model, but It's got a 486SX processor, 20Mb RAM, and 8Mb flash - definately not the newer G3 unit. The chassis will also have seven single span T1 modem cards, too.
As an aside, if anyone knows how to take care of the bad flash issue on the G3 based NMC's, without needing a support contract, let me know :)
So, which ARC would be my best bet? Thanks in advance for any advice.
