Switching from First Available to Round Robin
Our Total Controls are currently set up for first available modem routing method (where incoming calls will always hit the first available port), and we are looking at switching to Round Robin (where incoming calls are sent to the next trunk). Does anybody have any advice, experience, or cautions regarding this? -- -Tim --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tim Huffman -----------JORSM Internet, Internet Services Network Ops Manager -----7 Area Codes in Chicagoland timh@jorsm.com --------100 Mbps+ Connectivity, 56K-DS3 (219)322-2180 ---------Quality Service, Affordable Prices http://www.jorsm.com -----Serving Gov, Biz, Indivds Since 1995 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

We would do RR if we could (phone company says it's not possible). The only downside I see is that if a modem does go stupid it might take longer to notice. This setting available on span card. For example on HiPer DSP via rs-232 console or telnet via HiPer ARC (see pdfdocs/10030450.pdf on documentation CD; if you have HiPer DSP or find analogical documentation for your card). -- Regards, Sergey a_s_y@chat.ru
