Hello all,
I would like to setup my USR TC to allow a connecting that once the modems handshake that a packet of information is sent and routed to a specific port on a server to be processed and replied then the connection dropped!
Can anyone help with this at all?

You can do it by adding login type user into arc and specifying its login host (suppose arc can access your server). add user username type login set login user username LOGIN_HOST_IP_ADDRESS <ip-of-server> TCP_PORT <port> and any other parameters that you need. When connection with server is closed user gets disconnected. Look ARC command line reference for more information about this commands (you can get it on totalservice.utstar.com or http://www.goesp.com/downloads/Documents/TotalControl/HIPERARC/ ). Okay I am totally stuck now LOL. I have added a user that has the login setup for the LOGIN_HOST_IP_ADDRESS The problem i have with that is that you have to enter a username :-( So i found: add network service gandl data server_type telnetd socket 3962 drop_on_hangup=on auth=off,interface=slot:1/mod:1 And from what i am able to understand is that if you call in on the modem in slot:1/mod:1 you should not have to auth in and have telnet access. I check to see if the service gandl is enable doing list network services and it is DISABLED so i tried doing enable network service gandl and that does not do anything... what am I missing? Oh and using the "add network service" can i have it so that the data from slot:1/mod:1 goes to a port on another server? At 11:17 AM 12/22/2003, you wrote:

Has anyone explored setting up wireless as an ISP? I am looking at Aperto Networks. Anything someone deployed that was successful? Are there any discussion groups for wireless? Thanks, Tom
Sorry to post this question on the 3com forum but does anyone out there have speedview lite for windows? It's a snmp application for managing older baystack switches. If anyone has a copy of this out there and doesn't mind sharing it I would be most appreciative. Happy Holidays! Todd

Are there any discussion groups for wireless? I am not familiar with them. We use Motorola Canopy and are even a Dealer for them. The total bandwidth is less but they are much better at dealing with interference. -- Lewis Bergman Texas Communications 4309 Maple St. Abilene, TX 79602-8044 915-695-6962 ext 115
Well I guess I am not as stuck as I thought. Currently i have things setup that when you dial into the RAC you are auto telneted into the server i want and asked for a user id and password. That is cool I at least now know that there is good communications through the RAC So I am back to my original problem and I know there is a solution out there some where! When the modem connects I do not want any authentication just the ability for the modem to receive a packet of data and forward it over to a server listening on a specific port. Any clues??? Hello, How do I enable telnet access to the TC for configuration? Thank You Mike
On ARC: First of all write "list network services". If there is something like it: CONFIGURED NETWORK SERVICES Server Admin Name Type Socket Close Status telnetd TELNETD 23 FALSE ENABLED DATA: is written there 50% of work is done. (if there is no telnetd service then write: "add network service telnetd server_type telnetd socket 23"). Then Add telnet client <ip-addr/netmask> - it will add your IP/netmask (netmask can be x.x.x.x or y, 255.255.255.0 = 24) to telnet "clients" (something like access-list mapped to line vty on cisco). Then you have to create user with manage type (if you don't have one). add user <username> type login, manage (It's better to disable/delete default manage user: "adm" or set password to it). madkins wrote:

Try to change modem options, for example "set modem_group all type login" and "set modem_group all host_address <your-servers-ip>" and "set modem_group all tcp_port <server-port>" (set modem_group all username <username>, set modem_group all password <password> - those user/pass are used when you authenticate dialing users without asking them user/pass, if you don't change that properties default user will be used. So change default user to type login, etc.). Best way to do this is to look into pdf. Dev wrote:
