This isn't really on the subject of this group but I'm not able to find answers elsewhere. My mailserver/radius server is not showing up in Network Neighborhood but has full functionality of all network services (IE, Mail serving, dialin auth.) except for Nortan corp. I also can not see any of the other computers in it's on Network Neighborhood. The computer is an NT 4.0 Sever. If anybody can help me out that would be great. Thank You, Ryan S. McCracken Computer Technician Keystone Connect rmccracken@keyconn.net 941-5000 *Note: We now serve Clearfield, Philipsburg, Dubois, State College, Huntington, Altoona and surrounding areas. We also offer Computer Repair and other new services.

Thank You, Your fairly brave depending on NB for your networking requirements. Not exactly the most robust protocol. Switch to tcp/ip for everything and your problems are solved. -- Lewis Bergman Texas Communications 4309 Maple St. Abilene, TX 79602-8044 915-695-6962 ext 115

Remove netbeui and use only WINS and TCP/IP and you will be able to see the pc's on the network. You'll need to activate WINS server service on one of your NT machines and then configure that WINS address in all of your other clients. -Wayne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ryan McCracken" <rmccracken@keyconn.net> To: <usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 9:35 AM Subject: Re: [USR-TC] Radius/mailserver

Personally from a security standpoint I find it dubious to have an e-mail server that has any need to be part of a file sharing network unless either your radius server or mail server is so poorly designed as to rely on the need to have files shared, share files, or be part of a NT domain. Of course, I understand the world is not perfect and many products are not designed with a focus on security. Given the multitude of security problems with Microsoft OS products you should strive to reach a point where the only services running on that box are just those required to provide mail service - connect on port 25 for smtp, 110 for POP, and whatever else you need as a bare minimum to provide support for the mail services provided.
