Is anyone using MRTG to Track the Modem Usage on a Total Control? I found some scripts that will do the box as a whole, but I need it to monitor usage by cards. For instance I have 9 Hiper Dsp's in a Box, 3 are for CityA, 6 for CityB the script that I use does the box as a whole not individually. Does anyone have anyway to track usage like this? I have the oposite question, is there a way to use MRTG to combine modem usage across several boxes? I have MRTG monitoring modem use on my Total Contol, and separately monitoring usage on my older USR Pools, but I'd like to add these numbers together to show total modems used here. I'm not the one who maintains MRTG for our network but to answer your question, yes...you can do that. For instance we have site where we monitor nas 1, nas 2, nas 3 and then nas total. I would imagine just set up a link adding the others up. What we do here is have a 'total' entry in the MRTG config that's simply the individual racks added together. Example: `./get_hiper public@jt01-nmc` + `./get_t1 public@jt02-nmc` + `./get_t1 public@jt03-nmc` , etc... (the get_hiper and get_t1 are scripts to grab the usage from HiPer and Dual T1 racks) Allen

You can use the following OID to get the channel usage per dsp card. Note that the card slot base begins at 0 instead of 1 for this OID. 1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.10.35.1.3.n You'll probably need to query the ARC from an SNMP script that spits out the sum in the form MRTG wants. Here's a sample code fragment from one of our scripts that sums up the counts in DSP slots 5 and 6: /usr/local/bin/snmpwalk archostname xyzabc .1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.10.35.1.3 \ | awk -F' = ' '\ /\.[4-5] =/ { count += $2 } \ END {print count}'
