I dont do RIP/OSPF/IPX. I just use IP for dialup. So why on commworks's site its said that for installing TCS 4.5/4.7 I
need at least 128MbRAM and 16Mb flash?
You are required to have a 128/16 HiperARC because the software to flash and run 4.5/4.7 is too large to put on a 64/8 HiperARC.
What about flash? I have just 8Mb of flash. Is it enough for upgrading to TCS4.5/4.7 ?
NO.
And one more question: What happens if I upgrade DSP cards to TCS 4.5/4.7 and dont upgrade
HARC and HNMC?
If you have a HiperNMC then buy a 128/16 HiperARC (from this list) for about $250 and upgrade all the cards to the same TCS version.
Strange. Why this chassis works fine? :)) It's HARC V4.1.9 (tcs 3.5) and HDSP V3.1.7 (tcs 4.3). Looks like that it doesnt have any problem.
Will dialup (dialin) work ok?
Most likely when you reboot the DSPs after updating the code, they will not come up, but even if they do, I do not believe they will function properly.
Note: Once you flash the DSPs to TCS4.5 a special procedure is required to downgrade back to TCS 4.3, otherwise you could damage your DSPs.
Will my TCM see and be able to configure that DSP cards?
More than likely once you update the cards past the TCS version of your HNMC, you will only see Question Marks. You will definitely not be able to program the cards without updating the HNMC to the same TCS version as the DSPs.
