SHAN, The only thing I could add is that in order to use 4.7 with a gui, you will have to purchase an additional piece of software labeled CEM (Common Element Manager). TCM is not technically supported with TCS 4.7, and the software that is supported is expensive and tree based. I believe a 5 chassis license for CEM was somewhere around $5k, with the next step up being much more. I tried CEM, and found it less efficient than TCM. If you run hundreds or thousands of TCs perhaps it would be more useful to you, but I suspect many of us on this list maintain less than 50, and most less than 10. If you are a CLI only guy, you shouldn't have any real problems running 4.7 My CEM trial time was over 6 months ago, so you may want to demo it yourself and determine if it will better fit you. I believe they are still doing a 45day trial, so if you are interested, call your support people and ask for details. I can't remember if I got the trial directly from UTStar or my Support people. We have about 50 Ts worth running TCS 4.5 code and I don't have any particular reasons to upgrade to 4.7 thus far. Until TCM is released for 4.7 or I go CLI only, I will be sticking with the 4.5 code base. Oh, I forgot, CEM is also Client-Server based. It is however possible to run both the server and client on the same pc. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: usr-tc-bounces+adam=semo.net@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:usr-tc-bounces+adam=semo.net@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of S H A N Sent: Friday, July 16, 2004 9:13 AM To: usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [USR-TC] TCS recommendation? hi, i am intending to buy Hiper DSP Multispan cards together with ARC2 and NMC333. i would like to have list member's recommendation on which TCS should i buy? 4.5 or 4.7?
