Dear Music Education Collegues, The National Association for Music Education has worked hard to help establish music education as a specific area of instruction listed in the Federal ESSA Standards. We do not want to lose this recognition and opportunity for music to be a required part of every child's education. There is still a lot of work to do to advocate for full funding for Title IV-A in FY2019. As you are preparing for your final concerts and posts on social media about your programs, please include the hashtag #musicstandsalone. You may also want to consider inviting school board members and other "decision makers" for your school and district to your concerts. I am personally inviting all of my new administrators so that they can be introduced to our audience and to help them to start the summer and next school year seeing the community support for music education in our school.
