Hello all music teachers…

For several years now, GAMA, NAfME and NAMM have sponsored guitar workshops for teachers.  The focus of the class is not learning how to play guitar, necessarily, but how to TEACH guitar to students.  I attended one in Las Vegas before I started teaching guitar and it was a LIFE SAVER!  So many free materials and resources, scope & sequence, tips, etc.  If you teach guitar or think you MIGHT be teaching guitar in the future, this is the course for you!  There will be a level one for first timers and a level two for you more experienced guitar teachers.  They need a minimum number of participants in order to hold it here in Utah, so please sign up if you are interested! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WORKSHOP!

"The theory of relativity occurred to me by intuition, and music is the driving force behind this intuition. My parents had me study the violin from the time I was 6. My new discovery is the result of musical perception"  - Albert Einstein

In June 2018 (11-15), Lone Peak High School (Highland, UT) will be sponsoring a wonderful opportunity to expand your professional skills and gain 40 clock hours as well as optional graduate university credits (3). *Classes will be held at the Highland Community Center.

Regardless of whether or not there is a guitar program at your school, this could be for you!  If you are hoping to improve your teaching skills, considering introducing a guitar program, or if you just want to expand your personal skills this could be for you!

There are workshops going in various locations throughout the summer all over the country, but we are privileged to have both Level 1 and Level 2 being taught in Utah for the first time ever!!

TGW - Teaching Guitar Workshops  http://www.guitaredunet.org/

Teaching Guitar Workshops (TGW) is a professional development opportunity for all music educators. New this year, Ukulele will be included in the workshop. This workshop is a great way for all musicians to remember the excitement of playing an instrument for the first time. TGW will help prepare you to incorporate guitar in your curriculum. Offering guitar will reach another part of your school's population. It is a win/win. You will have another music class to teach which will add to your total enrollment and you will be giving more students the gift of music.

Testimonial - As a newly hired guitar teacher (originally trained as a Spanish/ Communications teacher) I took this one week course in Boise, ID (2016). It was amazing and so helpful! The teacher was fabulous! We received tons of materials and supplies along with tried and true ideas/materials on how to teach guitar. I was able to expand my school's program and reach even more of the student body with the gift of music!  I am looking forward to taking the level 2 class and I hope to see you there!
