I did a plea in abeyance on a felony case recently, through mental health court, and we didn't use any particular statute.  It was just an agreement, and the judge went along with it.  It's the same thing they do with U-ACT all the time.

Subject: [UFDCJA] >Plea In Abeyance

From: Gregory Ferbrache <gregory@ferbrachelaw.com>

I have searched for the statute or rule governing PIA's (there is a state statute), and I know we did enter them in misdemeanor court before Judge Warner on occasion when I practiced as friend of the court, or at least I think we did.

I have a misdemeanor case that I would like to see if the prosecutor would consider a PIA and wanted to review any rule or statute beforehand. If you have a cite, I would greatly appreciate your direction.
