TSS Research and Scholarly Production Grant Programs CFPs
Dear Members and Friends of the T'ang Studies Society, The T’ang Studies Society is pleased to announce calls for proposals for two grant programs. The grants are meant to support society members working in any discipline on the Tang dynasty in a broad geographical and chronological scope: TSS Research Grants Research grants can support various types of expenses that arise during research or scholarly translation including travel, book purchases, graduate assistants, and databases fees. TSS Scholarly Production Grants These grants are designed to facilitate the presentation of scholarly research to academic and/or general audiences via print publication, digital platforms, or conference organization. They can support various types of expenses related to production such as copy-editing and online database entry, and dissemination such as publication subventions, image reproduction fees, volume completion fees, and conference organization costs. Applicants may submit proposals for both grants, but can receive a maximum of one society grant award annually . Amount of Awards: Up to $3000 Application Deadlines: July 1, 2022. Recipients will be notified by August 1, 2022. Dear Members and Friends of the T'ang Studies Society, With the generous support of the Elling O. Eide Foundation, the T’ang Studies Society is pleased to announce funding for conference travel grants to present research in any discipline concerning the Tang dynasty at domestic and international conferences. In order to raise the academic profile of Tang Studies, applications are welcome to support travel to any type of conference to deliver papers on topics related to the Sui, Tang, and Five Dynasties period (589—959 C.E.), and Tang in a global context. Scholars at any stage of their careers and graduate students with ABD status are eligible. Papers intended for future submission to the Tang Studies journal will receive priority. Amount of Awards: Up to $600 intracontinental travel and up to $1300 intercontinental travel. Funding levels are determined during the review process. Application Deadline: November 15, 2022. Recipients will be notified by December 15, 2022.
