Last Call for 2011 T'ang Studies Membership and Journal
Dear T’ang Studies Member, Volume 29 of T’ang Studies (2011), a special issue on Sui and Tang urban history and culture, is currently in production. This issue will feature several articles based on a theme that emerged at our 25th anniversary conference in Albany in 2009. The table of contents is as follows: Jack W. Chen. On Sui and Tang Cities: An Introduction Victor Cunrui Xiong. The Miscellaneous Record of the Reign of the Great Enterprise and Sui Luoyang Linda Rui Feng: Negotiating Vertical Space: Walls, Vistas, and the Topographical Imagination Jack W. Chen. Social Networks, Court Factions, Ghosts, and Killer Snakes: Reading Anyi Ward Alexei Ditter. Conceptions of Urban Space in Duan Chengshi’s “Records of Monasteries and Stupas” We are looking forward to the publication of this special issue and want to make sure that you do not miss it. Currently, the T’ang Studies Society has approximately 165 members of record, but to-date, only about 100 have paid their 2011 dues. Only current members will receive a copy of volume 29. How can you know whether you are current on your 2011 dues? First, if you received an email earlier this year containing instructions on how to access the electronic back issues of T’ang Studies, then you are current and do not need to do anything in order to receive volume 29. If you did not receive instructions on how to access the back issues, then our records do not show that you have paid your 2011 dues. Second, and most reliably, you can send me an email and I will check my records and get back to you as quickly as I can. If you have not paid for 2011, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible. We will be providing our publisher a final count and mailing addresses soon. The publisher does not print a large supply of extra copies, so to insure a hard copy of the journal, please remit your dues as soon as possible. The fastest way to pay is online using paypal. A link is available on the T’ang Studies website: http://tangstudies.org/Membership.html If you would like to pay by check, our mailing address is also on the website. Regular memberships are still $35, and student memberships are only $20. Please encourage your graduate students to join and enjoy the benefits of T’ang Studies membership: Hard copy of the journal, exclusive access to electronic back issues, voting rights, and guilt-free indulgence at the annual reception. If you have any questions, please contact me at admin@tangstudies.org Best wishes, J. Michael Farmer Secretary-Treasurer -- T'ang Studies Society J. Michael Farmer Secretary-Treasurer
