I am pleased to announce the publication of the first three volumes of my projected set of five studies entitled A History of Chinese Classical Scholarship. Washington, D.C.: Academica Press, 2021. The volumes are: Volume I, Zhou: Confucius, The Six Classics, and Scholastic Transmission; Volume II, Qin, Han, Wei, Jin: Canon and Classic; and Volume III, Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui, and Early Tang: The Decline of Factual Philology and the Rise of Speculative Hermeneutics. Volumes I and II have already appeared in Chinese Translation by Social Sciences Academic Press, and vol. III will appear early next year.
